In former Yugoslavia they would teach children in school how to make nice poems about Tito, the Party, the Homeland and other abstract concepts they were supposed to love, defend, promote and assimilate. Elena was particularly good, she`d rhyme like a bullet over flowers for our towers, the mighty crane who`ll rise again, Tito, you are our sky, capitalism bye bye and so on. Before she was 12, she was proudly showing her first publications in the school magazine to her father who looked quite appalled. Later on, there was the time for romantic love poems to the imaginary lover copied from girly papers. They were terrible, but helped her in writing a glorious goodbye love letter to her first fiance who went in the army. Her cousins and friends all copied it and sent it to their former beaus.
Later on she opened her heart and shouted it out on stage in a punk rock band. After she left the band, after six years of collaboration, she started making electronic poetry performances. The first ones screaming out loud about the society and the ideas of a creative class she felt like her own and called "proleter-k", and others whispering about lovers who made her discover so many ways of human heart and secret corners of male-female relationship. She wishes to thank those few bloody bastards who made her unfold herself and write about it so to leave a trace of beautiful emotions who`d otherwise be left wondering in the aether. They are called "ophLove". She enjoyed the company of Penelopex with whom she formed 2B1C ("Two-Blonds-One-Computer") and performed all over Europe. That was much fun and left behind a super limited demo "Proleter-k Poetika Elektronika"- a jewel for collectors.
She`s been publishing her words on her website and myspace page, often collaborating with musicians who`d compose music for her verses. Sometimes they would jam it all in front of an audience. At present, she continues performing poetry readings, often with fellow musicians.
